About these terms
These terms apply when you use lockin.camp, reserve, book or attend a camp organised under the LOCKIN Camps name. References to LOCKIN, we, us or our mean the camp organiser identified in your booking confirmation. You can contact us at apply@lockin.camp.
The reservation summary and booking confirmation identify the contracting organiser, the camp, dates, location, full price, payment schedule, inclusions and any camp specific terms. We provide the material price and payment information before you pay. If a booking confirmation conflicts with these terms, the confirmation takes priority for that camp.
Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot lawfully be limited.
Eligibility and reservations
You must be at least 18 years old to reserve a place. Your reservation details must be complete, accurate and your own. Selecting a room does not hold it. Your place is secured when the required payment is confirmed.
LOCKIN is built for people who want to make meaningful progress on an idea. You can be employed, self employed, studying or between things. You do not need to be a founder or technical. We collect a short onboarding questionnaire after reservation so we can shape the programme and support the group properly.
Tell us if you need a reasonable adjustment to reserve or participate. If we cannot safely or reasonably meet an essential requirement, we will discuss the available options with you and apply your legal and contractual refund rights.
Booking and payment
A booking becomes binding when we receive the required payment and send your booking confirmation. We will send confirmation and the key booking information in a form you can save.
Prices are stated before booking and explain what is included. Unless the confirmation says otherwise, payments are due on the stated dates. If a payment is late, we will contact you and give you a reasonable opportunity to put it right before cancelling the booking.
For Camp 01 in Madeira, advertised prices range from £1,495 to £2,245 per person according to the room category selected. A £99 deposit secures your place and is deducted from the full price. The remaining balance is due on 25 January 2027. Reservations made after that date require payment in full.
Any statutory cancellation rights remain unaffected. Camps include accommodation and leisure services for specific dates, so the standard 14 day cancellation right for distance contracts may not apply to every element. We will state the cancellation schedule clearly before you pay.
What the camp includes
Your booking confirmation sets out exactly what is included. Camp pages describe the intended experience but photographs, schedules, facilitators, accommodation layouts and activities are illustrative until confirmed in writing.
Unless your confirmation expressly includes them, you are responsible for transport to and from the destination, airport transfers, lunches, most breakfasts, passports, visas, travel insurance, personal spending, medical costs and equipment. You should not book travel that cannot be changed until your place and camp are confirmed.
Accommodation may be spread across several nearby properties, with a central workspace used by the group. Room allocation follows the category you book but a specific room, view or building is not guaranteed unless we confirm it in writing.
Changes and cancellations
If you cancel
Tell us in writing as soon as possible. The cancellation schedule supplied before booking will apply. Any amount we retain will reflect the terms you accepted, costs already incurred and losses we cannot reasonably avoid. Where practical, we will try to resell the place and reduce the cancellation charge. A replacement participant requires our written approval.
If we make a change
Camps depend on people, properties, weather and local conditions. We may make reasonable changes that do not materially reduce the experience. If we make a significant change before departure, we will explain it promptly and offer the choices required by law, which may include accepting the change, an appropriate alternative or a refund.
If we cancel
If we cancel the entire camp, we will refund amounts you paid directly to LOCKIN for the cancelled services. We are not responsible for separate travel or other arrangements except where the law says otherwise. This is why comprehensive travel insurance is important.
Events outside reasonable control can include severe weather, natural disaster, epidemic, government action, transport disruption, civil emergency or the unexpected loss of a key venue. We will act reasonably, keep you informed and provide the remedies required by law.
Your responsibilities
- Check that your passport, visa and entry requirements are valid for the destination.
- Arrange suitable travel insurance from the date you book.
- Tell us promptly about allergies, accessibility needs, health conditions or other matters that may affect safe participation.
- Follow reasonable instructions from facilitators, accommodation providers and activity leaders.
- Take reasonable care of spaces, equipment and other people’s property.
- Meet personal work, tax, employment and intellectual property obligations.
You remain responsible for deciding whether a camp and any optional activity are suitable for you. Ask before booking if you are unsure.
Conduct and safety
LOCKIN should be ambitious, generous and safe. Harassment, discrimination, violence, intimidation, deliberate property damage, illegal activity or serious disruption is not accepted. We may require someone to stop an activity or leave the camp where this is reasonably necessary to protect people, property or the experience.
Where circumstances permit, we will explain the concern and give the participant a fair chance to respond. A participant removed for serious misconduct is responsible for their onward arrangements. Any refund will depend on the circumstances and losses reasonably incurred, without affecting legal rights.
Some hikes, swims and excursions involve ordinary outdoor risks. Participation is optional unless an activity is clearly described otherwise. Follow the safety briefing and tell the leader if you are not comfortable. Nothing here excludes responsibility for negligence.
Camps may include agreed phone free periods and secure shared storage. We will explain the protocol and emergency access. You remain responsible for backing up and insuring valuables, while we will take reasonable care of items placed in storage.
Ideas, work and confidentiality
You keep ownership of the ideas, materials and work you bring or create. LOCKIN does not take equity or ownership merely because you attend. You are responsible for having the right to use anything you bring and for deciding what to share.
A camp is collaborative but it is not automatically confidential and participants do not sign a group confidentiality agreement unless we say so in writing. Do not disclose trade secrets or restricted employer information. Respect other people’s work and do not copy, publish or exploit it without permission.
Workshop materials, branding, site content and methods supplied by LOCKIN remain ours or our licensors’. You may use them personally for your project but may not resell or reproduce them as a competing programme without permission.
Photography
We may document a camp, but promotional photography or video is based on a separate, clear choice. Refusing promotional use does not affect your reservation or place. We will explain how to stay out of planned shots and how to withdraw consent for future use. We cannot always remove material already printed or lawfully published before withdrawal.
Participants must ask before recording or publishing identifiable people, private work or conversations.
Liability
We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, were caused by information or choices outside our reasonable control, or relate to a business activity rather than your participation as a consumer.
We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights. Nothing on the site is legal, financial, medical or investment advice, and no commercial result is promised.
Using the website
You may use the site for lawful personal purposes. Do not interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorised access, submit malicious code, scrape it in a way that harms the service or misuse another person’s information.
We aim to keep information accurate and the site available, but may update, suspend or remove content. Links to other sites are provided for convenience and do not mean we control or endorse them.
Complaints and law
If something goes wrong, contact apply@lockin.camp promptly with the details and the outcome you are seeking. Raising an issue during the camp gives us the best chance to put it right.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Courts in England and Wales have jurisdiction, but if you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom or another country, you keep any mandatory right to bring a claim in your local courts under applicable consumer law.
If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. We may update the website terms from time to time. The terms accepted with an existing booking will not be changed retrospectively unless the change is required by law or agreed with you.
